You Can Truly Change a Life

In sponsoring the training of a student, you will be responsible for positive, lifelong changes that impact not only that student, but his or her family and children.

In addition to cooking skills, ICT builds in each student the personal attributes of confidence, awareness and aspiration — the life skills necessary to lead a productive, dignified and sustainable life.

Our students arrive the first day in street clothes and leave 12 weeks later in chef uniforms, chef shoes, and with useful, employable skills.  ICT’s impact is immediate.

The Simple Truth of Our Students’ Lives

Our classes are free to all students.  Otherwise none would be able to attend.  The R20,000 ($1,500) cost of tuition is more than any of our students can afford.  Many of our students come to class just because they know there will be two meals a day.  What they end up receiving is the ability to feed their families for a lifetime.

How Are Our Students Selected?

Our selection process is rigorous.  Each applicant must complete a 9-page written application and attend two personal interviews.  We don’t base our admissions merely on those “most likely to succeed.”  We look for those with the heart of a lion.  We look for those who will never give up.  We accept many young people who society would simply throw away — but who deserve a chance.  We receive approximately 100 applications for each class of 20-24 students.

Please Sponsor a Student Today

For $1,500 (R20,000), one student can complete the course and obtain a real job that he or she could not have dreamed of prior to entering the class.  ICT assists all graduates in getting their first jobs.  We also provide ongoing job and life counseling.

Once accepted to the class, each sponsored student is chosen at random (although you are free to choose one if you prefer).  You will, if you choose, be kept apprised of your student’s progress and development throughout the course.
